January 2015 – Dustin Billay
Dustin has been amazing to watch grow and develop, as he splits time between PA and Saskatoon! Dustin works hard, asks a ton of great questions and keeps on getting better and better. We are all excited to see what 2015 brings for him!
When did you first start CrossFitting? April 2013
Favourite WOD/Movement? ‘Barbara’ and Snatching
Least Favourite WOD/Movement? Turkish Get-Ups
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I grew up playing hockey and snowmobiling in the winters. lacrosse during the summers
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I first heard about CrossFit from Brandon Ethier and I wanted to try to see if it would help me get conditioned for sledding in the mountains. I don’t remember exactly what my first word was but going into it I kinda thought I was going to crush it cause I’ve always been into going to the gym…. Needless to say at the end of it, I was thinking wow am I out of shape! Then I was hooked
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? Since starting CrossFit the biggest changes I’ve noticed is my strength and determination, CrossFit has taught me how to do the movements properly and has taught me how to be truly healthy
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? In the last year I have basically given up drinking and focused on being healthy and trying to see the best I can become.
Any advice for people just getting started? Embrace it and keep with it. Soon as you start to see results your going to be hooked. There’s not a better community to be a part of.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? My biggest passion outside of CrossFit is backcountry snowmobiling in the mountains… but pretty much anything outdoors keeps me happy.
